icare Funded Stays at Sargood on Collaroy.

A unique opportunity for icare participants with a spinal cord injury to stay and build independence while accessing support for care, therapy, nursing and recreation in a beachside, purpose-built resort. Guests can engage in peer-to-peer learning, try numerous adapted activities and enjoy a break from routine. The aim of all the services offered at Sargood are to empower people with a spinal cord injury to gain the confidence and skills to have a full and rewarding life.

Are You an icare Participant?

If you’re a participant in either the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme or the Workers Care Program and have a spinal cord injury, you’re eligible for icare funded stays at Sargood on Collaroy — for up to 28 days per year (subject to approval).

icare supports short-term stays - a chance to grow your independence, learn new skills, meet new people and get involved in the community. Do all of this and more in a fully accessible, specialist space.

How it Works

01 — Speak to your case manager or icare contact

Seek approval for up to 28 days per calendar year in a single request. Use for a single stay, or several shorter stays – the choice is yours.

02 — Get Approval

Once your stay is approved, icare will issue an approval letter

03 — Make an Online Guest Account

04 — Upload your approval into your Guest Account

Once uploaded into your account you will be able to track how many nights you have remaining in the 12 month approval period.

FAQs

Yes - Each room accommodates up to 4 people including the participant. There is no additional cost involved.

If you require a second room to accommodate family then you will need to seek a seperate approval from your icare case manager or coordinator. Please note that in most circumstances, icare will only fund the cost for the one room. Any additional costs for family/carers to stay at Sargood can only be met in certain circumstances.

Some examples of exceptional circumstances are:

  • the participant or worker needs the support of a family member or care worker to travel (to be assessed based on care need)
  • where the review of daily support routines involving the family members is part of the purpose of the visit. This should be supported by written documentation such as a care need assessment report, medical report etc.
  • dependent family members living in the same household as the participant and who cannot be left behind, e.g., young children
  • the participant is a child and dependent on family

Yes - In most circumstances you are preapproved to attend a course. You may have to seek approval if you are using our high support or very high support package. Please speak to your icare coordinator or case manager.
